Due to rain, last week’s demo was cancelled, so this weekend we decided to do a Double Header weekend!! Contrast Little Italy on Saturday with Chinatown on Sunday – and great eating in both spots!
Taylor Street is one of the most historic neighborhoods in Chicago. From the late 1800s to about the 1950s, this area was a hub for Italian immigrants to settle and establish their families. It soon became Chicago’s “Official” Little Italy for southern Italians.
Main area of the neighborhood is east of Ashland to Loomis. If you prefer painting a park, Arrigo Park is at Loomis and Lexington, north of Taylor. Great homes located there, and more modest historic homes can be found on the north/south side streets north of Taylor. On Ashland, the Greek Orthodox Church offers a challenge to painters.
Great sandwiches at Conte di Savoia on Taylor! Starbucks with restrooms nearby.
