As part of Open House Chicago, we are including several buildings on the tour for our paint out locations. More on that later.
Another option in this neighborhood is the Rockefeller Memorial Chapel, a majestic structure about a block away at 5850 S Woodlawn.
Some history: The Frederick C. Robie House is a U.S. National Historic Landmark now on the campus of the University of Chicago in the South Side neighborhood of Hyde Park. The Robie House stands as an important part of America’s cultural heritage, a powerful declaration of Frank Lloyd Wright’s uncompromising vision for a new American architecture. This famous home is constructed of red Roman brick and was one of the first residences to incorporate steel beams into its design.
The Plein Air Cafe (note: the name implies outdoor eating and not painting) is located next to the Robie House.
